Amber Fulmer

Co-athletic Director, Volleyball and Track

Coach Fulmer is from Houston, Texas. She graduated from Texas A&M University with her Bachelor's in Education. She grew up playing Volleyball, Softball, and running Cross-Country. She is in her 5th year teaching 8th Grade Math and her 5th year being a Burnet Sailor.

She enjoys playing pickleball with her husband, going swimming with her daughter and sewing in her free time.

Sierra Soto

Co-athletic Director & Volleyball

Coach Soto is entering her fifth year at Burnet and her fourth year teaching P.E. She’s from Houston, Texas. Coach Soto graduated from Texas State University. She’s passionate about creating fun, inclusive opportunities for all students to engage in sports and teamwork. Outside of school, she enjoys going to the river, baking, and hanging out with her family.

Sanchez

Jose Sanchez

Football

Coach Sanchez has been at Burnet for 15 years. He was first the Boys and Girls Club Director at Burnet before becoming an 8th grade social studies teacher in 2013. As the social studies department chair, Coach Sanchez lets students know that they are students first and athletes second just as he is a teacher first and coach second.

Four years ago he was selected as Austin ISD's middle school teacher of the year. He has been coaching football for the past 13 years. In his free time he enjoys watching sports, running, and playing with his kids Isabelle and Rafael. He has also served as captain of the Burnet Sailors Cap10K team for the past 6 years.

Carlos Silva

 

Football, Boys Soccer & Boys Basketball

Born in San Diego, California, and raised in El Paso, Texas, Coach Silva is in his fifth year of teaching. A proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, he brings versatile experience in science and inclusion math, and currently serves as a Social Behavior Skills teacher. Now in his fourth year coaching football, fifth year coaching basketball, and first year coaching soccer, he is dedicated to fostering student growth both in the classroom and in athletics. Outside of school, he enjoys playing basketball, spending time with his dog, talking all things Star Wars, and cooking up something new in the kitchen.

Coach Michel

Earl Derick Cabungcal

Girls Basketball

Coach Cabungcal is originally born in the Philippines but grew up in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and got his master’s degree in Secondary Mathematics Curriculum. He has previously coached basketball and soccer. He is on his 7th year teaching Math and excited for the school year!

In his free time, he enjoys being outdoors (when it’s not too hot), travelling, and hanging out with his cat. His favorite basketball team is the Houston Rockets and enjoy watching FIBA basketball.

Dani Le

Boys & Girls Basketball and Boys track

 

Coach Le has been at Burnet MS for 6 years. She has been teaching 8th grade science for 8 years. At Burnet MS Coach Le is the head coach for girls and boys basketball as well as boys track. She graduated from Texas A&M University with her Bachelor's in Education. She grew up playing volleyball, basketball, and track. This is her 6th year coaching boys and girls basketball and 2nd year coaching track at Burnet. In her free time, Coach Le enjoys playing lots of basketball, going on hikes, and skiing. Coach Le has a passion for basketball and loves watching her athletes learn to play the game and become part of a team.

Coach Rivera

Veronica Rivera

Cheer, Cross Country and Track

Coach Rivera is from San Benito, Texas, which is located down in the Rio Grande Valley near the US-Mexico border. She is the first in her family to go to college and is proud to have graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Education and minor in Communication. #HookEmHorns

This is Coach Rivera's fourth year as a Burnet Sailor and third year coaching. Although Coach Rivera's sport of choice in high school was wrestling, she enjoyed playing for the Longhorn Pep Band at UT's volleyball and basketball games. 

When she is not at work, she loves to read and go to bookstores museums, but above all spend time with her son, Mateó.

Coach Rivera is really excited to continue coaching our students and help improve their confidence both athletically and academically.

Laura Tamez

Volleyball and Girls Basketball

Coach Tamez is from Brownsville, TX. She graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science but always knew she wanted to go into teaching/coaching. This is her 12th year and Burnet and she currently teaches 6th grade social studies and 7th grade creative writing. Coach Tamez will be coaching 7th grade volleyball and 8th grade girls' basketball this year.

Coach Tamez loves to spend time with family/friends at the beach or jumping in the car for a road trip. She also enjoys watching NFL and cheers on the Dallas Cowboys.

Coach Coutino

Valentino Coutino
Boys & Girls Basketball and Boys Track & Field

Coach Coutino was born and raised here in Austin, TX. He graduated from Concordia University Texas with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. Now entering Year 3, he coaches Boys & Girls Basketball and Boys Track & Field. He is also one of the assistant football coaches at Navarro High School.

Growing up, Coach Coutino attended to T.A. Brown Elementary, Webb Middle School, and Lanier High School (now known as Navarro High School). He was also involved in sports like Football, Basketball, and Track. His goal is to have an impact on students’ lives the same way his former coaches had an impact on his life.

Fun fact: Coach Coutino likes to wear Jordan’s. When students ask how many pairs does he have, his favorite response is “All of them”

Coach Walker

Helena Walker-Wolfe

Volleyball

Coach Walker is originally from Los Angeles, CA. She moved to Texas after getting married in 2020. She graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills with her Bachelor's in Kinesiology with an option in teaching Physical Education. She furthered her education at Azusa Pacific University, where she received her Master's in Physical Education.


She teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th grade AVID. She grew up watching and playing sports, played basketball in high school, and coached recreation ball for several years. This is her 6th year coaching at Burnet Middle School. She likes to watch college basketball and football. Her favorite teams are the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Dodgers. She also enjoys coaching students in sports they have never played before.

Lindsy Yoro
Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer Coach

 

Coach Yoro is originally from the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, but has been in Austin for almost 20 years. She is a double graduate from Texas State University, holding a Bachelor’s in English and Mass Communications and her Master’s in Secondary Education. This will be her 11th year in education and first year back in the classroom teaching 8th grade English, after serving as an assistant principal for the past 5 years. Coach Yoro grew up playing soccer her entire life and still plays today, for Austin Women’s Soccer League. She has coached everything from boys' and girls’ varsity soccer, middle school soccer and cross country in 6th-12th grades.

Aside from coaching, she is heavily involved in Crossfit, is A HUGE Baltimore Ravens football fan, loves anything outdoors, is a coffee fanatic, enjoys cooking, and stays active discovering all that Austin has to offer!
