The mission of the Burnet Middle School Counseling Department is to implement a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program promoting student success through a focus on academic achievement, prevention and intervention activities, advocacy, and social/emotional and career development.

Niomi Cryer
Wellness Counselor
Mrs. Niomi Cryer is thrilled to be one of the Burnet Middle School counselors this year and join the community! She earned her undergraduate degree in Social Work from UT Austin and her Master’s in Social Work from UT Arlington. As a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), she has experience working with children, teens, and families, and is passionate about helping students grow emotionally, socially, and academically. Mrs. Cryer looks forward to building strong connections with students and supporting their mental health along the way. Go Sailors!

Eloy Paredes
7th Grade Counselor
Mr. Eloy Paredes is the 7th grade counselors this year. He followed his student from 6th grade and is enjoying his second year at Burnet. This is his 10th year as a school counselor and he is excited to continue working with the students he got to know last year and the ones he will meet this year.
In his spare time, he is known to enjoy jigsaw puzzles.

Kendra Bailey
8th Grade Counselor
Ms. Kendra Bailey is Native Texan born and raised in McKinney, TX. She earned her undergraduate degree from Langston University and continued her Education at the University of Oklahoma where she received her Master of Social Work. Kendra has passionately worked with children and their families in a therapeutic and counseling role. She is excited to be a part of the counseling team at Burnet Middle School and is looking forward to supporting the Burnet Community.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and shopping. She enjoys trying new restaurants, traveling and experiencing new things.

Kathryn Wristen
Wellness Counselor
Ms. Wristen is excited to join the Burnet Sailors as the 7th grade Counselor. Her background is in adolescent mental health working from ages 5-18. She has experience in a school, hospital, group private practice, and juvenile probation settings. Ms. Wristen is passionate about empowering adolescents to develop independence and growth in their daily lives.
In her free time, she enjoys being with her friends, being outside, and playing volleyball.
